The Year in Social Media: 2018 Infographic

2018 was the year of transparency, as advertisers and platforms took a look at their data and privacy practices. Across every industry, advertising practices were changed in the wake of controversy, increased regulation, and public demand. What didn’t change was the sheer volume of advertising happening on digital platforms – reported to have surpassed traditional ad channels for the first time in 2018.

As advertising on digital platforms grew to over $100 billion, we saw investment shift to newer platforms and helped advertisers introduce new ad formats to their digital marketing mix. We worked with advertisers to generate 30 billion impressions this year, as some – food and beverage, CPG – focused on mobile, and others – entertainment, healthcare – leaned in to desktop.
